Bukka Allen Honesty, integrity, and a good sense of humor is all you really need to live a sustainable life in Austin. That's why we're proud to have Bukka Allen rock the solar-powered stage for our December Event. Austin music lovers have been listening to Bukka since the mid-ninties, whether they've known it or not. Performing, recording, and touring at pinnacle moments in the careers of James McMurty, Jack Ingram, Ian Moore, Terry Allen, and the BoDeans, as well as performing and collaborating on recordings with Joe Ely, Alejandro Escovedo, Patty Griffin, Butch Hancock, Lloyd Maines, and dozens of others - Bukka has earned a place on the stages of international music festivals and in Austin's loudest clubs. But it's his softer side -- that of introspective bandleader -- that's bringing the most recognition. Confidante - the new CD, explores the surrealities of love and stress with open-eyes that live deep. Mr. Allen's emotional fearlessness comes at a time when the world needs honesty. "Your priorities change, in a very healthy way, when you get older," he says (Austin American Statesman, 10/29/07). Songwriter Bukka Allen has arrived, and we are honored to showcase his integrity. Join us for this very special treat, and hear what uncompromising sensitivity and lyrical tapestry sound like. Bukka will be joined by guitarist Rob Gjersoe (Jimmie Dale Gilmore, The Greencards, The Violent Femmes...), drummer Chris Searles (Shawn Colvin, The Flatlanders, TwangTwangShockaBoom), and bassist George Reiff (Charlie Sexton, Kelly Willis, Chris Robinson), with possible special guests (tba). Show begins at 1pm Bukka's 2nd solo release in 25 years, can be heard here: Read the Austin American Statesman feature, written by Michael Corcoran: Visit Bukka's website:
